Sad news hit 22-year-old Ghanaian forward
Ghanaian forward Gideon Kodua will be out of action until the new year after undergoing surgery for a hamstring injury, English League One club Luton Town have confirmed.
The 22-year-old suffered the injury during Luton Town’s Jersey Mike’s Trophy match against Colchester United last Saturday, forcing him to leave the pitch just before the 30-minute mark.
Medical scans later showed that Kodua needed surgery to repair the damage. The operation has now been completed, and the young forward has started his rehabilitation with the club’s medical team at The Brache.
Luton Town announced the news ahead of their return to League One action against Wycombe Wanderers, confirming that the Ghanaian would be unavailable for the rest of the calendar year.
“Ahead of tomorrow’s return to League One action at Wycombe, we can confirm that Gideon Kodua will be sidelined until the new year with a hamstring injury,” the club said in an official statement.
“The Town attacker was substituted just before the half-hour mark of last Saturday’s Jersey Mike’s Trophy game at Colchester after sustaining the injury.
“Scans showed that the 22-year-old former West Ham youngster required surgery to repair the damage, which has been undertaken and he is now into his rehabilitation period with the medical staff at The Brache.”
Kodua’s injury is a setback for Luton Town as they continue their League One campaign, with the club now having to manage without the Ghanaian forward for several months.
Before picking up the injury, the former West Ham United youngster had made seven league appearances for Luton this season, scoring one goal and providing one assist.
His attention will now turn to rehabilitation as he works towards recovering from the operation and returning to full fitness. The length of his recovery means he is expected to miss the remainder of the calendar year, with a return planned for the new year.
Luton Town will be hoping Kodua makes a successful recovery and is able to return to the pitch once he is fit enough to resume playing…CONTINUE MORE SPORTS>>>
