The Black Stars suffered a 4-2 loss to The Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium despite taking control of the game early and building a two-goal lead.
Ernest Nuamah and Felix Afena-Gyan scored to put Ghana 2-0 ahead, but The Gambia fought back and turned the game around.

The defender was also involved in another mistake when a poor back pass allowed Ebrima Colley to take possession and score The Gambia’s third goal.
Speaking after the unexpected defeat, Mensah expressed his disappointment and accepted responsibility for his part in the result.
“We have to accept that luck wasn’t on our side and we probably didn’t perform as we were supposed to perform. As a captain today, I feel like I will also take responsibility for everything that happened today” Gideon Mensah said.
