Black Stars is not a problem, we are just facing challenges – Carlos Queiroz

Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz says Ghana’s national team does not have a problem despite a difficult period and a poor run of results.

Ghana have won just one of their last 11 matches, while their recent performances have left many supporters unhappy. The Black Stars have also suffered two straight group-stage exits at the Africa Cup of Nations and failed to qualify for the most recent tournament.

Queiroz was appointed ahead of the 2026 World Cup and has taken charge of six matches so far. During that time, he has recorded only one victory, with Ghana also losing their first 2027 AFCON qualifying match against Côte d’Ivoire.

Speaking before Ghana’s home qualifier against The Gambia, the Portuguese coach said the team is facing challenges but insisted that the Black Stars themselves are not the problem.

“Black Stars are facing a couple of challenges, a couple of problems, but Black Stars is not a problem. Like everything in life…we face challenges, and our duty as professionals is to solve the problems,” he said.

“Yes, we are facing some challenges; that is the challenge we have in front of us, but Black Stars was never a problem, Black Stars is not a problem, and Black Stars will never be a problem in the future.”
