Black Stars coach Carlos Queiroz has called on Ghanaian fans to support the players who will feature against The Gambia instead of focusing on those who are missing.
Ghana will face The Gambia on Tuesday in their second Group C match of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. The Black Stars need a positive result after losing 2-0 to Côte d’Ivoire in Bouaké in their opening game.
The result has put Ghana under pressure ahead of their first home match of the qualifying campaign at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Several important players will not be available for the game, but Queiroz wants the supporters at the stadium to stand behind the players who have been selected.
“It’s better to stay home if you’re coming to the stadium to complain about players that are not here instead of supporting those that are here,” Queiroz said.
Ghana have been hit by several player absences before the qualifiers, including Mohammed Kudus, Antoine Semenyo and Nathaniel Adjei.
Queiroz has called up replacements as he prepares for his first competitive home match since returning for a second spell as Black Stars coach.
The Portuguese coach believes strong support from the fans could help the team respond after the defeat in Côte d’Ivoire and give their qualification campaign a boost.
Tuesday’s match gives Ghana the chance to collect their first points in Group C and rebuild confidence after a poor start.
