Black Stars coach Carlos Queiroz believes his team will continue to improve after their opening win at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Ghana started their campaign with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Panama. The match looked set to end goalless before a late winner changed the outcome.
Caleb Yirenkyi scored in the closing moments of the game, finishing a cross from Brandon Thomas-Asante to give Ghana all three points.
Speaking after the match, Queiroz said the team is still adapting to a new style of play and is improving with each game.
“We are growing as a team,” he said. “We are playing a different system, and our attacking methods are built around the profile of our players.
“We want vertical football and full-speed action. Step by step, the players will improve and adjust to each other,” Queiroz added.
Ghana are currently second in Group L behind England, who began the tournament with a 4-2 victory over Croatia.
The Black Stars will now focus on their big match against England at Gillette Stadium on June 23 before facing Croatia four days later in their final group game.
With three points already on the board, Ghana are in a good position as they try to reach the knockout stage for the first time since their run to the quarter-finals at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. Continue to More Sports.
