England will continue their 2026 World Cup campaign on Tuesday when they face Ghana in Boston in the first World Cup meeting between the two nations.
Thomas Tuchel’s side were among the most impressive teams in the opening round of matches. After a slow start, England produced a strong performance to beat Croatia 4-2. Harry Kane scored twice, Jude Bellingham added another goal, and Marcus Rashford also got on the scoresheet.
After overcoming what many viewed as their toughest group-stage challenge, England will now look to continue their strong form against Ghana.
The Black Stars opened their campaign with a dramatic 1-0 victory over Panama. Caleb Yirenkyi scored deep into stoppage time to secure all three points, but Ghana will need a much stronger performance if they are to trouble England.
The match will take place at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, near Boston, on Tuesday, June 23.
Kick-off local time:
20:00 GMT
Fans can watch the game on GTV Sports+ in Ghana, BBC in the United Kingdom, FS1 and FOX One in the United States, and TSN in Canada.
For England, one of the main selection questions is whether Bukayo Saka is fit enough to start or if Noni Madueke will keep his place. Marcus Rashford and Anthony Gordon are also competing for a place on the left side of the attack.
Marc Guehi could return to the starting line-up if Tuchel decides to make changes in defence.
England’s possible starting line-up:
Pickford; James, Stones, Guehi, O’Reilly; Anderson, Rice; Madueke, Bellingham, Gordon; Kane.
Ghana could be without first-choice goalkeeper Lawrence Ati Zigi, who is struggling with injury. Benjamin Asare is expected to replace him if he is unavailable. Thomas Partey is available for selection.
Ghana’s possible starting line-up:
Asare; Senaya, Adjetey, Opoku, Mensah; Yirenkyi, Partey; Fatawu, Sulemana, Semenyo; Ayew.
Ghana found it difficult to create chances against Panama and needed a late goal to win. England, meanwhile, looked dangerous throughout their match against Croatia.
The Black Stars will hope to improve in attack and defence, while England will be aiming to secure another victory and move closer to qualification for the knockout stage. Continue to More Sports.
Our prediction: England 2-0 Ghana.
