Updates on Ati Zigi’s injury

Ghana goalkeeper Lawrence Ati Zigi will have a medical scan after getting injured in the 1-0 win over Panama at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
He got hurt in the first half when he crashed into a Panama player while trying to stop an attack. He received treatment on the pitch but could not continue and was replaced at half-time by Benjamin Asare.
The Ghana Football Association has not yet said exactly how bad the injury is, but it may be serious. This means Ati Zigi might miss the important Group L match against England in Boston on Tuesday.
Before he went off, the 29-year-old made a good early save to stop Panama, but he was clearly in pain until half-time.
Benjamin Asare came on and played well. He kept a clean sheet and helped Ghana stay strong until Caleb Yirenkyi scored a late winner in the 95th minute.
Carlos Queiroz’s team went back to their training base in Providence, Rhode Island, on Thursday. Ati Zigi will now be checked further to know how serious the injury is.
The scan will help decide if he can play in one of the biggest games of the group stage.
England are coming into the match after beating Croatia 4-2. Ghana are already missing midfielder Thomas Partey for their first game, so losing Ati Zigi would be another big problem.
If Ati Zigi cannot play, Benjamin Asare is likely to start against England after his strong performance off the bench. Continue to More Sports.
