World Cup 2026: John Terry picks two countries to win trophy

Chelsea legend John Terry has named France and Spain as the two teams he believes have a strong chance of winning the World Cup this year.
However, Terry believes France are the favourites ahead of England because of the quality and depth in their squad.
When asked who he thinks will win the tournament, Terry told TimesLIVE:
“I’m going to have to go with France.
“I think their strength in depth and the attacking options they have: Doue, Olise, Mbappe, Dembele, Cherki, it’s endless.
“They are good defensively, their midfield is very good, I think they have such a good squad, and it feels like they are high on confidence at the moment as well.
“They have got PSG players that have just come off the back of a big European win as well.
“I hope I’m wrong, I hope it is England, but I just think France and Spain have a really good chance [to win the World Cup].”
Terry believes France have one of the strongest squads in the tournament, with quality players in attack, midfield, and defence.
While he hopes England can win the World Cup, he feels France and Spain are currently the leading contenders for the trophy.
