Ghana is behind you – Jane Naana charges Black Stars players
Ghana’s Vice President, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has encouraged the Black Stars to aim higher at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
She delivered the message while speaking to the team ahead of their opening match against Panama on Wednesday, June 17, at 23:00 GMT.
Ghana go into the game after a 1-1 draw against Wales. Carlos Queiroz took over as head coach in March following the departure of Otto Addo.
The Black Stars will face Panama without key midfielder Thomas Partey, who was denied a visa to enter Canada.
The decision remained in place after an appeal by Partey’s legal team, but the Vice President remains confident about Ghana’s chances at the tournament.
“We know you are doing well, we know you’ve already excelled but we want you to go even higher…we thought to encourage you to do even more.”
“Ghana is rooting for you regardless where Ghanaians are…Ghana is behind you and Ghana has high expectations of you. We know you will do the best you can” she said. Continue to More Sports
