Big blow to Liverpool as Virgil van Dijk set leave

Liverpool could face another big setback after reports claimed that Virgil van Dijk may be linked with a surprise move away from the club.
There have already been many changes at Anfield since the end of the 2025/26 season. Arne Slot was sacked and replaced by former Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola.
At the same time, Mo Salah, Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konate have all left the club on free transfers.
Now, Liverpool captain Van Dijk is also being linked with an unexpected move, according to reports from Turkey.
Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu reported that Galatasaray want to make several signings during the next transfer window and are interested in Van Dijk.
The transfer window does not open until June 15, and it is reported that the Turkish club is preparing to make an official offer for the 34-year-old defender.
Sabuncuoglu said: “Galatasaray hasn’t made a move for Virgil Van Dijk yet. I expect some movement after June 15th. Galatasaray is considering making an official offer.”
Sabuncuoglu also reported that Galatasaray are interested in Bernardo Silva. However, he is expected to join Real Madrid on a free transfer after leaving Manchester City.
The club is also looking at Can Uzun from Eintracht Frankfurt as they continue trying to strengthen their squad.
