Ghana vs England: Update on Thomas Partey

Thomas Partey appeared to be in good spirits as Ghana continued preparing for Tuesday’s important FIFA World Cup Group L match against England.

The Black Stars midfielder joined Thursday evening’s training session at Bryant University in Rhode Island and took part in the recovery programme following Ghana’s dramatic 1-0 win over Panama.

Partey looked happy during the session, smiling, laughing, and spending time with his teammates and coaching staff as Carlos Queiroz’s squad turned their attention to England.

The 33-year-old missed Ghana’s opening match after being denied entry into Canada, which forced Queiroz to make changes in midfield. Teenage midfielder Caleb Yirenkyi took his place in the starting line-up and marked his World Cup debut with the late winning goal that earned Ghana all three points.

Although it is still unclear whether Partey will be available for the rest of the tournament, his appearance in training was another encouraging sign as he continues to work with the squad.

The Black Stars will stay at their training base in Rhode Island for the next few days before travelling to Boston for what could be a very important Group L match.

England go into the game after beating Croatia 4-2, while Ghana know that another positive result would put them in a strong position to qualify for the Round of 32. Continue to More Sports.
