Arsenal snatches Liverpool target

Arsenal have already started working on new signings just a few days into the summer transfer window.
After winning the Premier League title last month, the club is looking to strengthen its squad ahead of the new season.
Many Arsenal players are currently away with their national teams at the 2026 World Cup, which ends on July 19. Kai Havertz and Viktor Gyokeres have both scored for their countries, while Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice provided assists for England on Wednesday.
Back at the club, manager Mikel Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta are working on several transfer deals. Arsenal are believed to be looking for a midfielder, a left winger, and possibly another striker. The club could spend around £250 million this summer.
Arsenal will return to competitive action on August 16 when they face Manchester City in the Community Shield.
One of Arsenal’s latest moves is for young goalkeeper Phoenix Blayney. The 15-year-old has joined from Northern Irish club Larne after impressing during a trial with the Gunners.
Blayney chose Arsenal even though Liverpool and Nottingham Forest were also interested in signing him. He had previously visited Liverpool’s training ground and was photographed wearing a Liverpool shirt.
His father has now confirmed that Arsenal have secured the deal. The teenager is expected to sign a pre-contract with the club and will be able to sign a professional contract when he turns 17 in November 2027.
Alan Blayney told the Belfast Telegraph: “Everything has been agreed with Arsenal, he just needs to sign the contract. When he’s 17, he will sign a professional contract. It’s done and dusted and a pre-contract will be signed when the time is right.”
Arsenal are also interested in Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola.
The 23-year-old recently scored on his World Cup debut for France and has been linked with both Arsenal and Liverpool.
According to reports, Arsenal are preparing the details needed before making an official offer. Barcola’s value has been reported to be between £60 million and £105 million.
PSG would prefer to keep the winger but are open to selling him as they look at changes to their attack.
Arteta wants to improve Arsenal’s forward line, and Barcola is seen as a player who could help take the team to another level.
Last season, he scored 13 goals and provided seven assists in 39 matches, mostly coming on as a substitute, while helping his team win both league and European titles. Continue to More Transfer.
