A 26-year-old Ghanaian lawyer has died after reportedly suffering a heart attack while celebrating Ghana’s 1-0 win over Panama at the FIFA World Cup.
Sara Araba Tettey was a newly qualified lawyer and a graduate of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology Faculty of Law. She had recently been called to the Ghana Bar and was working at O & A Legal Consult, where she was seen as a talented young lawyer.
Reports say she collapsed shortly after celebrations began after the final whistle on Wednesday, June 17.
She was watching the match with friends at Standard Hostel in Bomso, near the KNUST campus in Kumasi, when she suddenly stopped responding.
Her friends rushed her to the KNUST Hospital. Doctors tried to save her and gave her CPR for about 45 minutes, but she was later confirmed dead.
Her death has shocked many people in the legal community, including people from KNUST, the Ghana School of Law, and other lawyers. Many had only recently celebrated her becoming a lawyer.
Friends and former classmates described her as very smart, hardworking, and kind, with a bright future.
Her body has been taken to the hospital mortuary while doctors wait to do an autopsy and plan her funeral. Continue to More Sports.
