World Cup 2026: Alan Shearer predicts comfortable England win over Ghana

Former England captain and striker Alan Shearer believes England will comfortably beat Ghana in their second match at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
England started the tournament with a 4-2 victory over Croatia in Dallas last Wednesday.
Ghana, on the other hand, needed a late goal from Caleb Yirenkyi to secure a 1-0 win over Panama in Toronto.
Shearer, who scored 30 goals in 63 appearances for England, believes the Three Lions will be full of confidence when they face Ghana in Boston on Tuesday.
“It’s such a positive result and positive performance we got the other day from England,” he said in a video shared on social media.
“I think the belief and the confidence going into that Ghana game after such a good start, both as a team and so many positive individual performances. I am confident that England will go into and win the game, and my prediction is England 3 Ghana 0,” he added.
Shearer also believes England’s strength on the bench will make it very difficult for Ghana to get a result.
“But one thing I think from an opposition point of view, and when you are being beaten 3-2, and you look to the sidelines, and you’ve got Bukayo Saka coming on, you’ve Morgan Rogers coming on, and Marcus Rashford coming on, that must damage you mentally. So positive substitutions, but the ability of those three to come on and change the game and go on to win the game for England, I think, is a huge positive,” he added. Continue to More Sports.
