Geovany Quenda will start training with his new Chelsea teammates next month as the young winger hopes to quickly impress Xabi Alonso.
The 19-year-old will officially join Chelsea this summer after the London club agreed a £40 million deal with Sporting CP for him in 2025. Quenda is excited to begin work at his new club and is also looking forward to working with Alonso. People close to the Portuguese winger told football.london that he greatly admires Alonso, first as a player and now as a coach.
Quenda is expected to be part of Chelsea’s first team next season. He hopes to benefit from the late arrivals of Pedro Neto and Estevao Willian this summer. Both players play in similar positions to Quenda and are expected to join later because of the World Cup and injury.
Maniche, another Portuguese player who also played for Chelsea, has shared an exciting prediction about his fellow countryman and what he can offer Alonso in his first Premier League season.
Speaking in an interview with Flashscore, Maniche said: “They can expect a player with a lot of personality and flair. He’s young, but has above-average maturity. He’s very strong one-on-one, has technical quality, and has also improved a lot defensively.
“Nowadays, the physical side is valued too much and creativity is often forgotten. Quenda has creativity, talent, and the ability to make a difference. He will need time to adapt, because the Premier League is very demanding, but I believe he has everything it takes to succeed. The fans can expect a very talented player.”
