Jordan Ayew makes history against Panama

Jordan Ayew has further cemented his place in Ghanaian football history after becoming only the fourth player from the West African nation to feature at three FIFA World Cup tournaments.

The 34-year-old reached the milestone during Ghana’s 1-0 victory over Panama in their opening Group L match at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Toronto.

The appearance marked Ayew’s third World Cup participation, having previously represented the Black Stars at the 2014 tournament in Brazil and the 2022 edition in Qatar.

With the achievement, Jordan joins an exclusive group of Ghanaian players made up of Asamoah Gyan, Sulley Muntari and his elder brother Andre Ayew, all of whom have featured at three FIFA World Cup tournaments.

Jordan made his World Cup debut in Brazil in 2014 as one of Ghana’s emerging talents. He returned to the global stage in Qatar eight years later and played an important role for the Black Stars. His appearance at the 2026 tournament now places him among the country’s most experienced World Cup performers.

The milestone reflects Ayew’s longevity and consistency at the highest level of international football. Since making his senior debut for Ghana, he has remained a key figure for the national team, representing the country at multiple Africa Cup of Nations tournaments and World Cup campaigns.

Coming from one of Ghana’s most celebrated football families, Jordan has continued the legacy established by his father, Abedi Pele, and his brother Andre Ayew.

By joining Andre in the exclusive three-World Cup club, Jordan has added another significant chapter to the Ayew family’s contribution to Ghanaian football.

As Ghana continues its campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Ayew’s latest achievement stands as a testament to his dedication, resilience and enduring service to the Black Stars. Continue to More Sports.
