Streaming star IShowSpeed showed his support for both Ghana and Portugal during a live broadcast at the USA versus Paraguay opening match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Saturday dawn.
While watching the game from a luxury suite at SoFi Stadium, the American content creator had a lively discussion with his bodyguard, Rudi, about who would win the World Cup.
When his bodyguard confidently said that Ghana would win the tournament, the streamer jokingly replied that his support for Portuguese captain Cristiano Ronaldo was stronger than his connection to his newly adopted African heritage.
“I’m Ghanaian, bro… but Portugal is winning,” the streamer told his audience before proudly repeating his Ghanaian title, “Barima Kofi Akuffo.”
The comment was a reference to the traditional Ghanaian name given to him during his well-known visit to Ghana.
Although he spoke positively about his Ghanaian roots, his strong support for Ronaldo influenced his prediction for the tournament.
The match was also a special moment for the streamer for another reason.
During the same broadcast, he officially reached 55 million subscribers on YouTube. He celebrated the achievement by doing his famous backflip inside the stadium suite.
